I haven’t drawn in ages so this was a good warm-up.

As you may have seen in my last post I’ve been working on a digital version of my purple pony drawing. I spent a long time trying to create the same kind of background I used before but I didn’t like how it was turning out.
I’m currently re-working another old piece. Here it is from my teenage/young adult years:
The red version is my one and only attempt at lino printing. I like the design a lot but my adult self felt the need to have more realistic proportions. Here is how I ruined the design with correct proportions:

I’ve been experimenting with colour on my latest drawing. Thanks to advice from Sarah Vernon I’ve used photocopies rather than ruining the original. Here are some of the results:
The only one that works for me is the one that isn’t actually in colour. On that one I just filled in the “sky” with pencil. So, I think I’m going to leave the picture in black and white. When I feel brave enough I’m going to fill the sky in with pen. I’ll try a texture first and if that doesn’t work I’ll just black it all in. What do you think?
