Chaotic Paradox

I haven’t drawn in ages so this was a good warm-up.

See here for my inspiration.

Pony’s Progress

As you may have seen in my last post I’ve been working on a digital version of my purple pony drawing.  I spent a long time trying to create the same kind of background I used before but I didn’t like how it was turning out.

PPonyProgress3smallI decided to try a more simple background.

PPonyJustFlowerssmallThen I decided to add some clouds.

Evolution of the Horse

I’m currently re-working another old piece.  Here it is from my teenage/young adult years:

The red version is my one and only attempt at lino printing. I like the design a lot but my adult self felt the need to have more realistic proportions. Here is how I ruined the design with correct proportions:
Here is the design without the ugly neck:
You might recognise the next incarnation:
And here is the digital version in progress:

Finished Dream

finisheddreamOkay, so I chickened out and stuck with black and white.  But I am using colour on my next piece, which is well under way.

Dream in Colour

I’ve been experimenting with colour on my latest drawing.  Thanks to advice from Sarah Vernon I’ve used photocopies rather than ruining the original.  Here are some of the results:

colour1 colour2 colour3 colour4 colour5 colour6 colour7The only one that works for me is the one that isn’t actually in colour.  On that one I just filled in the “sky” with pencil.  So, I think I’m going to leave the picture in black and white.  When I feel brave enough I’m going to fill the sky in with pen.  I’ll try a texture first and if that doesn’t work I’ll just black it all in.  What do you think?

Dream in Black and White

Here is the larger drawing that I’ve been working on.  I’m showing it to you before I add the colour because I don’t know whether I’m going to improve it or ruin it.  Someone described this piece as “busy”.  I think that might be an understatement!
