Went for a picnic on Achill Island yesterday. The weather and views were fabulous.

I’m working on not being a jealous person but I failed in this instance. Simply breathtaking. Was the water cold?
I grew up in Wales so I’m used to cold water paddling but yesterday it was like ice water direct from the Arctic! 🙂
What’s up with that. I taught my students that there was a warm ocean current in your parts. Does it warm up later in the summer?
I met a little old lady who said she was there the day before and it was warm then. It must have been a freak current or something. The lady was worried about her husband who was recovering from an operation. He was in the cold water with his grandchildren, putting on a brave face for them, while she worried at the water’s edge. A touching scene.
Isn’t it just?! Well worth the long drive.
SARAH—- ONE HECK OF A DRIVE FROM BRANSON, MO USA!!!!!!!!! 😉 hee hee
what a long stretch of sandy beach. Awesome.
It stretches off to the left and right of the picture as well. Plenty of space for everyone – picnickers, horse-riders, surfers, paddlers, kids playing ball games and flying kites. 🙂
Beautiful and aptly named! Sarah, like you, I’m taking a break from blogging for a bit. Have enjoyed our encounters. 🙂
I hope you have a wonderful break Barbara. I’ve enjoyed our encounters too. 🙂
You changed your picture and I am so used to seeing the other one I didn’t realize this was your post:) Creatures of habit and all that:) Your photograph is so beautiful it almost doesn’t look real. What an amazing scene.
Sorry about that! The other photo was a bit out-of-date so I thought I would use one that we took on the picnic.
Achill Island is certainly a beautiful place. 🙂
